I've been using Travelpod to write about my personal adventures for quite a long time, so when I received the email that they'd be closing over the summer, I felt really sad about it. I was grateful that they made it so easy to download all of my posts & photos, but I wasn't sure what I would do about a journal/blog from that point on. I looked at Wordpress, Livejournal, Dreamwidth, etc... but I liked Blogger the best, so that is where I decided to go.
As I planned out what to do with my new blog, I realized that it was going to be a lot of fun for me - or, well, I hope it is! I loved Travelpod but I felt like I was limited to writing about travel since that was the purpose of the site. Nobody would really care about fashion or makeup, etc. I included photos of Duffy there but I never really talked ABOUT Duffy, even though the purpose of Duffy is to travel with you, because I felt like nobody would care about him either. Since Travelpod was such a small site & I would get lots of random readers, I felt like I had to produce content for them. Now that I have started over with a completely personal blog where I can write on my own terms, I won't feel like I'm wasting anybody's time if I write about different topics. I also plan to eventually upload all of my old travel blogs here so that I can look at them whenever I want to. R.I.P. Travelpod. It was a good run.
